Thatcher A. Seltzer-Rogers (PhD, Anthropology, University of New Mexico, 2023) is the Director of Business Operations for the Office of Archaeological Studies (OAS). He supervises the OAS staff; manages project development, contracting, fieldwork, and progress; reviews reports; and manages budgeting and other fiscal actions. He earned his PhD with Distinction in Anthropology (Archaeology) and a doctoral minor in Statistics from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Science degree in Anthropology (Archaeology) from the University of New Mexico (2019), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Archaeological Studies from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse with minors in Anthropology, Geoarchaeology, and Earth Science (2015).
Thatcher greatly looks forward to expanding the impact of OAS and believes strongly in its multifaceted objective to provide outstanding archaeological compliance services to clients, conduct and publish archaeological research, and conduct educational outreach to the public.
Prior to joining OAS, Thatcher worked for the Office of Contract Archeology at the University of New Mexico, Aspen CRM Solutions, and was contracted full-time to the Gila River Indian Community Cultural Resource Management Program, among others. He has extensive experience in southern Arizona, southern New Mexico, and northern Mexico archaeology with specialized analytical expertise in ceramic analysis and quantitative analysis. He is the author of dozens of peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, edited books, and technical report contributions. He is also actively engaged in archaeological societies in the Southwest.
